Honoring Legacy, Building Bridges: IEK HQ Philippines Leaders Participate in the Chartering of the Knights of Rizal Great Bay Area Chapter in Hong Kong

Hong Kong — September 28, 2025 — In a historic and solemn ceremony held at the Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong, the Knights of Rizal (KOR) Great Bay Area (GBA) Chapter was formally chartered, marking a significant milestone in the Order’s growing presence across Greater China and East Asia.

Among the distinguished guests was Sir Yongsoo Samuel Cho, KCR, Chapter Commander of Seoul and Area Commander of South Korea, who served as the Overseas Guest of Honor. Accompanying him was Ms. Maria Tricia Valdez, Chief Operating Officer of IEK HQ Philippines Holdings Inc., whose presence emphasized the synergy between corporate leadership, civic diplomacy, and international cultural engagement.

Strengthening Ties Through Leadership and Service

Sir Yongsoo Cho’s invitation, extended by the Hong Kong Chapter, was a recognition of his exemplary leadership and steadfast dedication to the principles of Rizalism throughout the Korean Peninsula. His participation, alongside Ms. Valdez, symbolized the continued strengthening of relationships between Filipino and Korean communities—both in business and civic spheres—through mutual respect, collaboration, and shared advocacy for moral leadership.

The induction ceremony was led by Sir Romulo Victor M. Israel Jr., KGOR, with the official chartering of Sir Lewis Tei Luk, KCR, as Commander of the newly established GBA Chapter. Five distinguished postulants were knighted into the Order, reaffirming their dedication to the values of patriotism, integrity, and enlightened citizenship espoused by Dr. José Rizal.

A Shared Commitment to Brotherhood and Nationhood

During the event, Sir Johnny, Commander of the Hong Kong Chapter, presented Certificates of Appreciation to supporters of the outreach initiative Simoy ng Pag-Asa, which provided electric fans to local schools. In turn, he received a replica bust of Dr. José P. Rizal, sponsored by the Knights of Rizal Hong Kong Chapter and presented by a member of the IHQ Chapter NCR, in his capacity as Hong Kong and Macau representative of the Rizal Centre Foundation of the Philippines (RCF).

Despite operating with modest resources, the Hong Kong Chapter’s heartfelt hospitality and commitment to service reflected the enduring spirit of Filipino solidarity abroad.
